Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be 10 whole months before I got to go on an overnight adventure with my son. Just another thing that Covid has caused us to miss out on. Anyway, since Felipe and I were finally vaccinated, we finally felt comfortable attempting a trip.

Traveling with a little requires slightly more planning and prep than our pre-baby days. Sleep is still scarce in our house so we decided to plan our drive around bedtime. This meant that we arrived after midnight but since M slept most of the way instead of screaming, we took that as a win!

M LOVED the ocean. Felipe held him and dipped his toes into the water for the first time and it was magical seeing his face light up. We put him down and he crawled straight toward the water. We picked him up, walked back to the sand and repeated, for the good part of an hour.

Sidenote: can you believe how far the iPhone camera has come? Look at the water splash below!

One thing I read in my vast Pinterest research was to bring an inflatable baby pool to keep near the tent. That was such a great idea! Perfect for sensory exploration and keeping an eye on him.

It’s been a long year (and a half now!) and it was so good to finally do something as a family of three that just felt like the old us. Traveling looks a little different now but I can’t wait to show M all that this beautiful world has to offer.
