Mother's Day at The Farm

For more than 30 years, my grandmother and her two sisters have gathered their families at the farm they grew up in in Mount Pleasant, Texas twice a year to catch up and reminisce. It's a sweet time filled with loads of food, original music, and sitting around under the trees.

My whole life, I've heard about how when they were younger, my grandma and her sisters formed a musical group called The Silver Bells. Since retirement, they've gotten the group back together and now call themselves The Singing Sisters. With a few legit gigs per year, I decided they needed some promo shots for their new website. It was amazing.

Grand Cayman

Clear skies, blue waters, and a suntan were what we had in mind when we embarked on our first Caribbean trip together back in January. The weather had other plans though, and we ended up with about one cumulative hour of sunshine for the weekend. That's where good company comes in.

Felipe and I rented a Jeep and drove around the island for lack of better things to do. Did you know that just about everything is closed on Grand Cayman unless a cruise ship is docked? We didn't either. But, we made the best of it and in the end, at least enjoyed a two day reprieve from the freezing temperatures in Dallas.

Since being married, my favorite parts of Christmas are Felipe's sound effects and facial expressions. His eyebrow gets so excited!

Our 2017 Christmas card pictures from the farm. Felipe was a trooper since there was a lot of trial and error self-shooting.

Philadelphia | USA

In an effort to see all 50 states before we move on, we took a quick weekend trip to Philadelphia. The weather (mostly) cooperated and Felipe learned a lot about American history! We also took a drive to Gettysburg and stopped off in Amish country for while. There is nothing quite like the beauty of fall in the north!

I don’t know at what point Santa Monica became the annual Irons family vacation but I wouldn’t change it for the world! We generally travel around the Fourth of July because of my dad’s work schedule. This year, we spent the holiday playing volleyball on the beach!
